Many young patients ask this question when they come in for consultation. These products are meant to reduce frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines (along the nose), can smooth a wrinkly chin, produce a less “gummy” smile and can be injected along the lower chin to reduce the frown lines at the corners of the mouth. When a patient is regularly injected with either Botox® or Dysport®, they can prevent wrinkles (like the 11s between the eyebrows) from happening. If a patient can move their muscles, the skin doesn’t scrunch up and cause wrinkles. Both products have a safe profile with minimal side effects or downtime and can be started in patients in the 20s.
